Prepare to get served
Inspired by the beloved children’s book, “Cloudy with
a Chance of Meatballs” focuses on Flint Lockwood, a young inventor who
dreams of creating something that will improve everyone’s life. Flint’s
latest and most successful invention, where he makes food fall from the
sky like rain, is an attempt to solve world hunger. However, things go
terribly wrong when excess amounts of food overload cities and towns.
5 Valuable Lessons from the Movie
#5 Be yourself
You cannot please everybody. It’s a dangerous habit to want to please everyone it's like forgetting the real intention of your acts, which is from within. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs reaffirms this message. When Flint’s food processor actually works, his neighbors start making orders for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Unwilling to resist their demands, Flint overloads the machine bringing imminent danger to the town.
#4 Failures can be good
Failure is all Flint knows as a child scientist. Invention after invention, he fails to create something that works. It isn’t until the end of the story that he realizes his failures would help him save the day.
#3 Don't be greedy
Having everything you want is not always a good thing. Too much of a good thing is still too much. the most greed is embodied in the town’s mayor, who not only gets too big for his britches from eating so much, but also creates utter chaos because of his hunger for fame and fortune.
#2 Love and Acceptance
Flint always had the support and love of his mother, but he desperately wanted to know his father loved him. At the end of the movie, he finds that his father has always loved him; his dad just didn’t know how to express that. It's accepting that we are different individual and we have different ways of showing our love for others
#1 Faith
Flint’s mother had faith in him, even though she died before she witnessed his greatest accomplishments. Flint continued to press on because of the faith his mother showed him. The most important thing one can have in life, to continue to trust and believe in our gifts.
