Helping others is indeed like a ripple in a pond, as its single wrinkle flows, it proliferates and multiplies until the whole stream is covered and everything on it is a source of motion affecting others. Wherein, nothing is apparent but the crease it brings into being, giving life to the resting stream.

Young Seminarians shares with the youth and little ones: Campus Ministry
by Sem. Jeff Loma
Helping others is indeed like a ripple in a pond, as its single wrinkle flows, it proliferates and multiplies until the whole stream is covered and everything on it is a source of motion affecting others. Doing
apostolate with the youth and children if truth be told, is quite a challenging
but a rewarding task for us seminarians. How would you rebuff the call for the
mission for the young ones if you know clearly in your heart that you could do
something for their development as a being? That was the question that we, seminarians
instill in their minds for us to become an effective and worthy proletarian
servants of God.
We,
Sem. Jeff Loma and Sem. Lester De Guzman do have our apostolate at the Southern
Philippines College (SPC) located in Cagayan De Oro City in Mindanao, teaching
Values Education subject for Grades Five and Six students. We hold this subject
during Mondays and Thursdays at SPC. It is indeed a great experience to be with
children teaching them about the good virtues and values that they must possess
to be a noble person. Every time during our apostolate, we gradually realize
that getting into the religious life is a serious matter but as long as you
have a heart for others especially for the little ones, you will be able to
find the true meaning of life with yourself and with the congregation, having
the primary charism with the youth and childreIt
is worthwhile to apprehend that we are contributing to the development of every
child that we used to teach in SPC. We see in their faces the joy when we have
our sessions since we incorporate also some animations and icebreakers related
to the subject and specific topic for them to really appreciate the program. We
help them as well in their personal growth as a person when we teach them the
values like honesty, obedience, cleanliness, and most of all, for them to
become a God-fearing individual. We also inculcate in their minds the
importance of prayer as a way of communicating with the Lord.
In
addition, during Wednesday, we, Sem. Jeff Loma, Lester De Guzman, and Nikee
James Payot, also conduct an apostolate in Mindanao University of Science and
Technology with Sr. Cecile, a Canossian Sister and Campus Minister for us to be
exposed in youth formations.
It
is indeed a humbling experience to be included in the campus ministry. As
seminarians like us, we really appreciate the experience that we have in this
field and we always look forward for further experience with our apostolates.
